Chemist – Paint Formulation

DESCRIPTION

Established paint and coatings manufacturer STIC-ADHESIVE Products Co. in central Los Angeles, CA is looking for a hands-on chemist to formulate new paints and coatings.

The chemist will work independently in the lab formulating, compounding, synthesizing and testing existing and new paints to address military specifications and other customer needs. Successful formulations will turn into finished products in the company’s on-site manufacturing facility.

The chemist must be very comfortable working independently, documenting results in writing, and communicating inside the company and with outside clients.

EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS

BS Chemistry, Science, Polymer & Coatings or related technical degree coupled with a minimum of 5 yrs. of hands-on industrial paint formulation research and development. Must have lab experience with small bench formulation and ability to draw up samples and run ASTM testing methods for evaluation. This is a hands-on job where the chemist will work on their own developing coatings used in industrial and military finishing.

Experience with military specifications and earning Qualified Product Database (QPD) certification for products preferred.

Candidates must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and application documentation. Looking for people who are structured, organized, focused, self-disciplined, and require minimal supervision.

Additional degrees in chemistry or related areas a plus. Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel and general Internet usage. No travel required. No relocation.

Chemist – Adhesive Formulation

Established adhesives manufacturer STIC-ADHESIVE Products Co. in central Los Angeles, CA is looking for a hands-on chemist to formulate new adhesive products across several chemistries. This is a full-time position.

The chemist will work independently in the lab formulating, compounding, synthesizing and testing existing and new adhesives to address customer needs. Successful formulations will turn into finished products in the company’s on-site manufacturing facility.

The chemist must be very comfortable working independently in the lab, documenting results in writing, and communicating inside the company and with outside clients.

EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS

Must have lab experience with small bench formulation and ability to draw up samples and run ASTM testing methods for evaluation. Hands-on job where the chemist will work on their own developing structural adhesives, bonding agents, sealants and coatings used in manufacturing assembly.

Candidates must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and application documentation. Looking for people who are structured, organized, focused, self-disciplined, and require minimal supervision.
